MSOSH GOLD AWARDS FOR 2 WATER TREATMENT PLANTS IN PENANG

PENANG, Monday, 13/8/2018: Perbadanan Bekalan Air Pulau Pinang Sdn Bhd (PBAPP) has won 2 Gold (Class I) Awards from the Malaysian Society for Occupational Safety and Health (MSOSH).

The gold awards were for achieving zero incidences of “lost time injuries” (LTI), accidents and dangerous occurrences at the Batu Ferringhi and Bukit Toh Allang Water Treatment Plants (WTPs) in 2017.

This is the first time that PBAPP has received MSOSH Gold (Class I) awards.

Essentially, these awards indicate that the water supply operations and working environments in these 2 WTPs are amongst the safest and healthiest amongst utility companies in Malaysia. From the management standpoint, zero incidences of injuries and accidents also reflect optimum water supply operations, good staff morale and cost efficiency.

On 9/8/2018, PBAPP’s Head of Department for Quality, Safety and Health, Mr. Mak Kok Yun, received the awards on behalf of the company from the Executive Director of the Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF), Datuk Shamsudin Bardan, witnessed by the Deputy Minister of Human Resources, Dato’ Haji Mahfuz bin Haji Omar, in Kuala Lumpur.

PBAPP had participated in the MSOSH Awards for the following 3 reasons:

  • To get an independent assessment of PBAPP’s OSH performance;
  • To share knowledge and experiences with MSOSH; and
  • To benchmark PBAPP’s OSH performance in accordance to MSOSH standards for the Malaysian utilities sector.

MSOSH is an independent non-profit, non-government and non-political organisation that is dedicated to promoting occupational health awareness, programmes and practices in Malaysia.
